During your stay with us at Malanda State High School we understand that you would like to take every opportunity you can to travel and see what our beautiful country has to offer.

Things to do

Tackle the Atherton Forest Mountain Bike Park or feel the ancient magic of 10,000-year-old volcanic-crater lakes, Barrine and Eacham, and the sprawling Yungaburra curtain fig tree. Follow the World Heritage Wet Tropics waterfall circuit spotting Ulysses butterflies and platypus along the way.  Malanda enjoys a waterfall and swimming area in the centre of town, popular with both locals and tourists alike. Visit the many farm gates to sample home-grown produce including coffee, tea, cheeses and chocolate and many fruits and vegetables all grown locally.

Drive 45 minutes east to Cairns—the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.  Enjoy day tours to local islands with the opportunity to swim, snorkel and dive this world heritage natural wonder. Travel west 60 minutes and you can experience the Australian outback exploring caves and small country towns all with unique tourism opportunities for you to enjoy.
