Sixteen students represented the school at the Japanese Day of the Cairns Languages Speaking Competition on Thursday. Over 400 students were involved, coming from schools all over Far North Queensland to the Cairns School of Distance Education for the day. Students in years 7-10 from Malanda SHS participated, preparing their speeches in Japanese since before the holidays. The students presented their speeches to audiences and Japanese judges and were awarded points for their delivery and content. It was an exciting day; students enjoyed the opportunity to support their friends and enjoy the activities and positive atmosphere! Congratulations to all the students who participated, you represented the school with pride and should be commended for your great effort over many weeks of preparation!
